PGN: Exploring Barcelona Spain
In the summer of 2024, Zeynep Yildiz, a PGN member and junior at The Ohio State University, took part in the Fisher Global Internship program in Barcelona, Spain. This experience gave her the chance to explore a new culture and gain fresh insights into the world.

Zeynep had this to say about her study-abroad experience:
“This summer I had the opportunity to pursue a two-month internship in Barcelona, Spain through the Fisher Global Internship program. I worked as a marketing intern on the MBE Worldwide Development Team at Mail Boxes Etc. During my internship, I was involved in various projects that helped me gain skills and knowledge in the areas of market research and analysis, digital marketing, and content creation.
Barcelona was a wonderful city to call home for many reasons. I was lucky to reside in one of the nicest neighborhoods, which provided a more authentic and less touristy experience. From my neighborhood, I was only a few metro stops away from various destinations, such as Barcelona's renowned landmarks: Arc de Triomphe, La Sagrada Familia, and Park Güell.
One of my favorite parts about studying abroad was the travel. Being in Barcelona for two months, I was able to explore the city during the week while being able to travel to different countries such as France and Morocco on the weekends. Each of these experiences was distinctive, and I valued the opportunity to immerse myself in various cultures.
I am very grateful for this transformative experience both personally and professionally. Working abroad has increased my cultural adaptability and desire to work internationally. This experience would not have been possible without the PGN Scholars Foundation Grant! I am very excited to take everything I learned into my junior year at OSU!“
